Daniel Zhao and Jacob Hallman
have been helping students succeed in their academics since 2013. After mutually shared experiences studying abroad, they realized studying hard was not always enough. So they joined forces to help other students who wanted better grades but still wanted an extra hand.
Zhao and Hallman meet on Craigslist (seriously though) and start working together remotely between Kansas City and Iowa. They begin with a business to help students with personal statements and resumes.
StudyGate is founded in Los Angeles where both of them relocate in order to provide homework help and online tutoring services to college students. It is still in operation.
